Hello guys! :)
Last day, in English class we listened to a song which is called “Yes we can” from the Black Eyed Peas’ singer. And we loved it so much, because we learnt more about your situation.
In Spain, we have been talking about the elections in your country and we think most people here wanted Obama to win.
For that reason, we have chosen talking about politics because we think now it’s an important topic for you. As students:
- Are you interested in politics and the current economical situation? Why?
- What do you think about your new president?
- How do you think this change is going to affect your lives?
- Who obtained more votes in your state?
We hope this new situation will bring positive changes into your lives! :)

Hi! This is Tiffany and I am going to respond to your questions in English first. Personally, I am a Democrat and I believe that Barack Obama was the right selection. I think that he will guide our country in the right direction, versus the last eight years under the Bush administration. I hope that over the next few years, our country will experience change for the better in terms of the economy and also how our foreign policy matters in the Middle East are handled. Many college students here in Massachusetts went out to the polls to vote for Obama last Tuesday.
I don't think either candidate was very good. I did not vote because I waited too long to request a ballot from my state, but I would have voted for McCain. I like the Democratic policies for the economy and the environment, but I prefer the moral consciousness of the Republicans.
It wouldn't have mattered which state I voted in though, because both Massachusetts and Illinois are very strongly Democratic. I am glad I voted though, because I believe in what Obama stands for and want to support him. I think this country made the right decision in electing him, and hopefully we'll see some economic recovery again. Prior to this election, I was losing some faith in this nation, but I have hope for it now.
Hi guys!
I was very interested in the election, but got a bit sick of hearing about it 24-7 by the end. The media had been focused on this election since 2006, and already they are talking about the election in 2012! I'm excited about having Obama as president, but my personal feeling is that governments and countries change very slowly regardless of who is president, so I don't think that his presidency is going to substantially affect my life and I don't think he is going to bring as much change as people are expecting. But I hope I am wrong!
